July 12th is Bucky's birthday!

What better way to celebrate than to support RBF Dome in their effort to preserve the original Dome Home of Bucky and Anne Fuller in Carbondale, IL

Please help celebrate Bucky's Birthday by supporting our 1st annual "Bare-Bones" Budget fund-raising campaign. We are making GREAT STRIDES in our effort to save the Fuller Dome Home! But we need help paying the bills. We need to raise $15,000 to support our basic FY08 budget that pays for insurance, property taxes, utilities, maintenance, etc.

Our 'beyond bare-bones' needs:

• At present we are facing some extra-budgetary needs. This winter the heating system sprung a leak. During the inspection it was found that parts of the boiler system were inoperative.
  Repair estimate: $2,200


• The plastic covering on the protective dome is tearing and must be replaced this year. The original plastic was expected to last 5 years and it has been 7 years.
  Replacement: $3,500


• We need more redwood to continue our fence restoration. We bought some last year but it was hardly enough to fix four sections. We need to purchase more redwood to keep going. Do you know where might get more redwood?
  More redwood: $ ?,000


• We received a Federal CLG Grant to cover some of the cost of the National Historic Landmark nomination. We need to pay the first 50% of the cost.
  Our portion: $3,690

Look at all that you've already helped us accomplish! Since July 2002 RBF Dome has:

• Formed a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization
• Created a Carbondale Historic District for the Fuller Dome
• Received a “Home Museum” permit from Carbondale
• Prepared a Historic Structures Report and Preservation Plan
• Held 'Second Day Issue' stamp event with US Post Office
• Received National Historic Register listing
• Recorded “Roam Home to a Dome” CD in the Dome
• Began restoring the fence
• Hired a firm to prepare our National Historic Landmark nomination
• Held numerous educational outreach programs
